Overview
This home is designed to take full advantage of its stunning bushland setting, capturing beautiful water views while seamlessly integrating with the natural landscape. Stack stone surrounds complement the sloping block, adding texture and character, while the garage and carport were carefully designed to harmonize with both the facade and the surrounding environment. Built on bushfire-prone land with a BAL (bush fire attack level) 29 rating, the home incorporates robust, fire-conscious design features. Inside, an open-plan living area flows effortlessly onto a wrap-around deck, creating a light-filled, connected space that embraces indoor-outdoor living and the scenic outlook.
Challenges
- Bushfire Compliance: Meeting strict bushfire requirements with a BAL 29 (Bushfire Attack Level) rating to ensure safety and durability.
- Sloping Block: Designing and building on a sloping site, carefully working with the natural contours of the land.
- Rural Location: Managing logistical challenges associated with the rural setting of the home.
- Undersurface Rock: Overcoming rock conditions beneath the surface to ensure stable foundations and structural integrity.
Solutions
- Bushfire Compliance: The home was built to meet BAL 29 specifications, including fire- resistant features such as gutter guards, metal screens, fire resistant materials for openings and specific windows.
- Sloping Block: Piers heights were increased and crane installation used, alongside site- specific stormwater design, to work with the slope and ensure structural stability.
- Rural Location Solutions: Constructed off-site to streamline logistics, minimize delays, and efficiently manage the challenges of a remote location.
- Undersurface Rock: A rock-breaking service was included during the septic tank installation to address subsurface rock and ensure proper functionality and stability.
