Overview
This thoughtfully designed knockdown-rebuild was delivered in two stages, creating a spacious and versatile home tailored for dual-family living. The generous Cook’s kitchen flows seamlessly into the main living areas, with a second living space providing additional flexibility and comfort. Custom floor plan modifications were made to fully accommodate dual occupancy while maintaining a sense of openness and connection throughout the home.
Situated on a picturesque rural property, the design maximizes the site’s potential, featuring a central outdoor living area and increased peers that create beautiful vantage points that overlook the surrounding landscape. Every element of the home has been carefully considered to combine functional family living with a strong connection to the outdoors.
Challenges
- Knockdown-Rebuild: Managing a knockdown-rebuild, coordinating a two-stage delivery while building the home off-site to overcome the logistical difficulties of the location.
- Sloping Site Constraints: Designing the home to suit a sloping block, avoiding cut and fill, carefully working with the natural contours of the land.
- Dual-Family Living Requirements: Creating a functional layout that accommodates dual-family living while maintaining privacy, flow, and shared spaces.
Solutions
- Knockdown-Rebuild: This knockdown-rebuild was delivered in two stages and built off- site, streamlining construction and overcoming the challenges of its rural location.
- Site-Sensitive Construction: Increased pier heights and utilised crane installation to avoid cut-and-fill, meeting the site’s requirements while maintaining structural integrity.
- Tailored Floor Plan: Implemented custom floor plan upgrades to perfectly suit the client’s dual-family living needs.
